Celebrating 50 Years of Tony Smith at Crawley RFC

Celebrating 50 Years of Tony Smith at Crawley RFC

Sergio Rodriguez20 Dec 2024 - 17:00

A Legacy of Dedication

Fifty years. That’s half a century of dedication, hard work, and an unmatched love for Crawley Rugby Football Club. This year, we’re honoured to celebrate Tony Smith’s incredible milestone—a true legend who epitomises what it means to be a clubman.

Over the years, Tony has probably held every position imaginable at the club (we’re not entirely sure he hasn’t volunteered to be the kit washer once or twice or 300 times). From player to coach to groundskeeper to referee when needed, Tony has done it all—and done it with a smile (most of the time!).

If there’s a job to be done, you can bet Tony has already rolled up his sleeves and started doing it before anyone else has even noticed. He’s the first to arrive, the last to leave, and somehow always finds time to share a story, crack a joke, or lend a helping hand.

A Legacy of Dedication

Tony isn’t just a club man—he’s the beating heart of Crawley RFC. For five decades, he’s given his all to help the club grow, thrive, and become the welcoming community we all love today. He’s seen generations of players come through the ranks, shared in their triumphs, and supported them through tough times.

His contribution goes far beyond the pitch, though. Tony has built relationships, fostered community spirit, and made Crawley RFC a home for so many. Whether it’s his wisdom, his banter, or his ability to make everyone feel like part of the family, Tony’s impact is immeasurable.

Thank You, Tony!

Tony, words can’t fully capture what you mean to this club. You’ve given us 50 years of your time, energy, and heart—and Crawley Rugby wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you for everything you’ve done, from the bottom of our rugby-loving hearts.

Here’s to Tony Smith: 50 years of being the ultimate club man, and here’s to many more!
