Crawley Rugby Club was thrilled to host the prestigious ‘Sussex RFU’ Mini Rugby Festival, for Under 10s teams, on Sunday.
Nearly 30 teams came to Crawley from almost every rugby club in Sussex as well as one team from Guernsey ! The weather was really perfect and it seems that a great time was had by all, especially the 300 or so 9 and 10 year olds participating.
Everyone was keen to play lots of games and that is exactly what the players did !
Crawley Under 10s gave a very good account of themselves assisted by their enthusiastic bands of supporters.
Meanwhile Crawley’s other Mini Rugby teams got up bright and early ( the clocks having just gone forward ! ) on Mothers Day and travelled to parallel Sussex RFU festivals elsewhere. The Under 7s had two teams playing down at Chichester – ‘Crawley Reds’ and, in reverse colours, ‘Crawley Blues’ and both teams were ‘absolutely incredible’ according to Co-Manager, Katie Bundy. Meanwhile the Under 8s played 5 matches in the sunshine at Uckfield and had great fun. Tony Smith ( Under 9s Coach ) was very pleased with the performance of his team at Eastbourne, where they played matches against Pulborough, Hove, Burgess Hill and East Grinstead. The Under 11s played all their games at East Grinstead Rugby Club.
The players’ Mums were all happy to spend Mothers’ Day travelling all across the county and watching their children playing rugby !!
Now the players are all looking forward to next Sunday’s festival at Uckfield.
