I am proud about how the ladies overcame some difficult parts of the season
- Ollie Plunkett

Reflecting on this season, what achievements are you most proud of from the women’s team?

For me, the thing I am proudest about is how the ladies overcame some difficult parts during the season. We had a lot of new players and a lot of players who had to step up and play in positions they were not familiar with. Some of those players have found themselves in new positions for the foreseeable.

How have the team dynamics and player roles transformed over the course of the season?
The dynamics of a team always change from season to season and a lot of that comes from results on the pitch. This season we found ourselves in some difficult periods at times and the togetherness and team spirit to keep smiles on faces no matter what happened

What impact have the new players had on the team, and how have they integrated?

New players are always welcomed and this season was no different, we have a lot of new players and a lot of younger players joining. We had our first player to make their debut at 17 for us this season. The new players settled in very quickly and a number of them become big players for us this season.

In terms of skills and tactics, what were the major areas of improvement this season?

I think we made a massive step forward in controlling possession of the ball and being patient in attack. We looked after the ball in long periods of games which has been a massive work-on for us. The coaches have hammered home to the players that all the time we have the ball we are in control of the game and to not give the ball back cheaply. Our work rate in defence has also been a big focus area this season and again the coaches have reiterated throughout the season that working hard in defence to get in position and get off the line is the key to a good defence.

We have worked hard to get players on their feet quickly.

Looking forward, what goals have you set for the next season, and how do you plan to achieve them?

Looking to next season we want to carry on building on what we have achieved this season. To turn the possession we have in attacking areas into points, to punish teams when they give us the ball and to take our chances.

In defence, we want to become harder to score against and to defend our red zones by applying more pressure by being organised and hard working.

The players themselves have identified we need to be fitter and better conditioned next season. If we can do that it will help us achieve our goals and the area we want to improve on.

Our focus is going to be on improving performance, if we perform well in games the results will start to come and will take care of themselves
