The boys had an early start, but this did not dampen their enthusiasm to go to Brighton for the Sussex Harlequins U14 festival. And what a day they had! Over the course of the day the boys played five exciting and nail-biting games against Bognor, Edenbridge, Lewes, Crowborough and Brighton, which resulted in 3 wins, a draw and a narrow 1-0 loss.
The Crawley team was a combination of seasoned experienced players, and new players who had never played a competitive game of rugby - just lots of training and fitness, during lockdown. Every player was a credit to the club, and it was fabulous to be able to cheer them on.
The energy and strength displayed by all the teams involved was amazing, as each game was played at such a high intensity and was a showcase of both skills and enthusiasm of all Sussex’s finest young talent. It was a privilege to watch, and credit needs to be given all of those involved in the organisation of the day.
Overall, it was a great day for the boys, parents and coaches, and such a relief to be able to watch them doing what they do best – playing rugby.
